[info]sannion is looking for submissions for Neos Alexandria's upcoming Hekate devotional- the deadline has just been extended to July 30th...here are the details- contact Sannion (info below) if you have any questions!

Em Hotep,

Although we’ve received some great contributions for the Hekate
devotional, we currently do not have enough for a full book. So we are
going to extend the deadline until July 30, 2009.

We can use essays, poetry, accounts of personal experiences, and other
forms of devotional writing. We would like this anthology to reflect
the diversity of ways that the goddess has been understood and
experienced both in antiquity and in contemporary times, so the more
contributions we receive the better!

As with all of our devotional anthologies we cannot provide payment or
contributor copies, since the proceeds will be used for charitable
donations and to help bring out further volumes in the Bibliotheca
Alexandrina line. For more information on our Guidelines and Policies,
please visit this page:

http://neosalexandria.org/BAguidelines.pdf

If you have any further questions, you may contact the editor at
sannion@gmail.com. This is also the address where submissions should
be sent.

Please feel free to distribute this announcement to other lists,
forums, and curious individuals. The more people who know about this
the better chance we’ll have of producing a truly awesome book worthy
of Hekate.

14th-Nov-2007 09:31 pm - Wine for Hekate
I have NO clue if this is widely available, but for those on my friends list who worship Hekate, you might find this interesting, it's a Passito wine called Hekate.

http://www.gruppomezzacorona.it/prodotti_usa/schede_pdf_eng/Fa_Hekate_inglese.pdf

(As you can see it's a PDF. It just includes some basic info about the wine. It's kinda slow to load- it took nearly a minute and I'm on a dedicated t1 line with only one other person on the connection.)

Nevermind...here it is in HTML

Looks like it's available here, it's a store in New York state but they can't ship to many states:

17th-Sep-2007 10:42 pm - Hymn to Hekate, Iris and Hermes..
I wrote this one as an offering for the upcoming ritual this weekend...

Begin my song, oh Muses, to three who traverse the boundaries,
walking always between the world of the gods on Olympus, man on Earth and the souls dwelling beyond the River Styx, sing of three who travel far and carry messages of gods and mortal man.

Sing first, sweet-voiced Muses of delicate Hekate, whom Asteria bore, bright-coiffed maiden, favored of Zeus who accompanies Persephone. Generous are you, torch-bearing goddess, when men offer rich sacrifices in your name!

And sing, oh Muse of Iris the storm-footed who treads along the rainbow, carrier of the waters of the Styx upon which the gods swear their oaths, mother of desire who fetched Eiliythia to Delos, Great-Winged wondrous one who replenishes the rain clouds from the waters of the sea, privileged are those in your presence to behold a vision of beauty!

And Muses, sing now of the son of Zeus who bears the golden staff, swift and boundless Hermes who hears and carries messages, clever one who stole away the Far-Shooter's cattle, luck-bringing god of chance who speeds between all realms. Keeper of herds, sweet is the song that sounds from the lyre, your invention and too, from the pipes which you play!

To you, Hekate, Iris and Hermes, hail! Heed our prayers and grant your blessings to this rite!

I didn't sleep much lat night and I think i'm coming dwn with something. My throat is kinda sore this morning and I've got the sniffles.

I had a weird dream last night...or maybe it was a series of dreams, I'm not sure. But what I remember of it was initially seeing a silhouette of a house near a hill and a night sky. Countryish Lancaster-County-like setting. And then periodically through the dream I would feel like I was falling through a silent black void, sometimes I would see some stars like a night sky (Much like the scene at the very beginning of the game Myst, if anyone remembers that....) and then I would stop falling, as if I had been on solid ground all the time. The space I was in was still completely black with no light source but I was able to see normally. Each time I stopped falling, I found myself in the presence of a god. I only remember two for sure, but I know it happened more than that. The first that I remember specifically was Dionysus. It was like a chance passing of an aquaintence in a hallway. "Oh, it's you. Hello," he said, smiled slightly and walked on. He had very long, purple-black hair and wore a black suit. Tie and all. Like Men In Black. But no sunglasses.

The other that I remember was Hekate. I did not see Her, but felt her presence, first slithering around me like a snake and then settled into a permeating pressure, like somethgin pressing into my skin from all sides, but it was oddly not overwhelming or intrusive. There was a sense of someone walking around me in circles, slowly...almost as if inspecting me, and eventually I had a feeling of approval, as if I had passed inspection or...whatever it was.

I know that there were other meetings with other gods, all of which I am familiar through their mythology but none that I particularly worship closely- I don't think any others were particularly notable enough that I remember them or maybe I just lost a lot of the dream between sleeping and waking. In between each "meeting", I fell through the black void again.

At the end of the dream I was on a residential city street, still at night. All the house porch lights were off except for mine (This neighborhood in my dream was not mine, and OI have never lived in a neighborhood resembling this, but it is a familiar scene to many I'm sure. Residntial city, semi-detatched two-story brick homes with porches and small front yards). One of my bothers was sitting on a sofa on the porch, waiting for someone else, I didn't speak to him, but opened the front window of the house and crawled in and went to sleep.
